Meet Kyra, LiveWall’s strategy and ideation lead who made a remarkable transition from a background in facility management and organizational science to a thriving career in digital marketing at LiveWall. Kyra’s journey is a testament to the idea that passion and curiosity can lead you down unexpected and rewarding paths.
Kyra joined LiveWall seven years ago, bringing with her a unique background that had little to do with the digital world. She holds a master’s degree in organizational science and has experience in facility management. During her studies, Kyra worked on a project with a teaching company at BUAS (Breda University of Applied Sciences), where she got her first taste of the creative industry. It was here that she discovered her love for marketing, communication, and all things digital, leading her to pivot towards a new career direction.
Not the typical career path
"I realized that the work I did during my graduation project was much more enjoyable than the jobs I might get with my degree," Kyra shared. This realization prompted her to apply for a role at LiveWall, where she started in new business development. However, she quickly discovered that sales wasn't her strong suit. Instead, she found her true calling in project management, where she could work closely with clients and teams to bring creative ideas to life.
Over the years, Kyra has grown within LiveWall, moving from project management to leading the content team. Most recently, she transitioned to a new role in the Strategy and Ideation team, where she focuses on planning, processes, and ensuring that the projects LiveWall takes on are a perfect match for the organization. "I enjoy sitting at the table with clients, understanding their challenges, and figuring out how we can solve them creatively," Kyra explained.
What does a typical day look like?
A typical day for Kyra is a mix of managing projects and handling operational tasks. Whether she's putting together a team, checking in on the creative process, or presenting work to clients, Kyra thrives on the variety and challenges her role offers. However, working in a creative industry isn't without its hurdles. "One of the biggest challenges is balancing creativity with client expectations. Sometimes, what we think is amazing doesn't resonate with the client, and that can be tough," she admitted.
When asked about her proudest project, Kyra didn't hesitate to mention the work LiveWall did for the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) women's team during the European Women's Championship in England. Where we created video content on YouTube that followed the team in their tournament.
Saving PDF's, not lives
Kyra also shared some of the best advice she's ever received: "We save PDFs, not lives." This simple yet profound saying reminds her to keep things in perspective, not to make problems bigger than they are, and to focus on collaboration. It's advice that has served her well throughout her career.
For those just starting out, Kyra has some valuable tips. "Know why you want to work here, not just that you want to work at an agency. Be clear about what excites you about the brands and projects we work on. And make sure you're visible—talk to colleagues, show your enthusiasm, and let people know who you are. It will open up opportunities for you."
Kyra’s ultimate dream client? Something close to her heart, working on a campaign for an animal organization like the animal ambulance. Her love for animals, particularly her short-haired dachshund, Taco, drives this passion. She even brings Taco to work regularly, much to the delight of her colleagues.
Working on good causes
If Kyra were the owner of LiveWall for a day, she would focus on making the work environment more inspiring and would push for the company to take on more socially conscious projects. She believes that working on good causes not only benefits the community but also allows the team to showcase their creativity in meaningful ways.
Kyra’s story is one of growth, passion, and the power of following your interests. She’s a shining example of how diverse experiences can lead to a fulfilling career, especially when you're in an environment that encourages creativity and personal growth.
